After putting the HP Spectre 13 with the Intel Core i7-7500U through its paces a little over a year ago, we are now eyeing up its successor. Is this just a simple upgrade to the Intel Core i7-8550U? By no means – the new HP Spectre 13 offers a lot more than a simple CPU upgrade to Intel’s eighth generation. It also features an entirely reworked case. More pronounced edges, narrower bezels and an improved cooling system are the first noticeable changes. But HP has also made another change: The Spectre series is now only available with touch displays and also offers a 4K display. A repositioning of the speakers is supposed to improve the sound, and the battery capacity is also said to have been increased. Reason enough to do a full review of this new device, although our focus will of course be on the Intel Core i7-8550U – HP must have played around with the cooling system to make this processor work in such a slim case.
